VA Programs That Can Help Pay For Home Care
The VA decides eligibility for every program. These are the ones families ask about most:

Aid and Attendance: An additional monthly pension amount for eligible wartime veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily activities. It has service, income and net worth requirements.

VA Homemaker and Home Health Aide program: Home-based help for enrolled veterans who need assistance with daily living, arranged through the VA and its contracted agencies. WellCare is a contracted provider under the VA Community Care program, also called the VA Homemaker and Home Health Aide program.

VA Community Care: Allows eligible veterans to receive care from approved community providers. WellCare is part of the VA Community Care Network.

How to access your VA home care benefits

Have a primary care provider (PCP) at the VA: You must be established with a VA PCP to start the process.

Schedule an appointment with your VA PCP: Talk with your provider about your needs.

Discuss your need for home care: Ask about the Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program.

Your VA PCP submits a referral to VA Community Care: Your provider sends the referral for review.

Request WellCare Nurses as your preferred home care provider: Let Community Care know you would like WellCare Nurses.

Once approved, begin receiving services with WellCare Nurses: Our team will coordinate your care and be there every step of the way.
